Bill Aboudi
Bill Aboudi co-founded West State Alliance with six other motor carriers due to "a strong belief in working together and fostering plenty of business for everyone." He cites the organization's founding principles favoring open sharing of information among competitors and support for local small business and community concerns. A Palestinian born in the West Bank, Bill immigrated with his family to the U.S. in 1980. He went to work for his brother's AA Trucking company in 1988 after leaving behind his own vending business and a career track in the hotel industry. In 1992 their business moved from San Mateo to Oakland when the Port made land available to provide truck parking to competing businesses. This eventually grew into Oakland Maritime Support Services (OMSS), Bill's own 15-acre compound providing truck parking and other indispensable truck services.
In 1996 he started AB Trucking, a carrier that currently operates a fleet of 10 company trucks. Bill is active on nonprofit boards and contributes his time to many community based organizations. He was appointed by Mayor Dellums to the Workforce Investment Board and serves as chair of its business services committee. He also sits on the West Oakland Commerce Association (WOCA) board of directors.
